Bixby Slough Moonrise
24 x 32, oil on canvas mounted on board

One of my favorite locations near my home is Bixby Slough. I like to call it by its original name. It's now known as Kenny Malloy, Harbor Area Regional Park in Harbor City, California. I've been coming here to paint moonrises for several years. This painting was inspired from one of my sketches done on location. I've developed battery-operated lights that I can fix to my easel, thus allowing me to paint in dark conditions. As I was painting on location capturing the light from the moon, two ducks landed on the lake, breaking the reflection on the water.
